D.A.P.S Analysis of Taxpayer-Funded Pig Violence

January 17, 20255 min read

In the year of 2024, the state has murdered at least 1,251 people via the police department. This is more than just a number. These are people with families who no longer are here on this earth because of state sanctioned violence. We know this number is much higher because the state enables the schematic & genocidal nature of the police department, allowing them to cover their tracks.

The pigs have every incentive as lackeys of the state; to uphold this capitalist economy & do the bidding of the hoarding class and its corporations. There is no cap to the violence that they are willing to unleash to uphold this economy. Nor is there a cap to the amount of funding the state is willing to give the pigs. Both of these numbers (Police Murders & Police Funding) rise simultaneously every year while we are currently in a recession. Dhoruba Bin Wahad has stated, “The prison system in the U.S is a booming business. its one of the major growth industries in the country today - even in period of recession. In NY State for instance, 85-90% of all prisoners are Black or Latino. And they come from only 8 communities in the entire state of New York. We are talking about in excess of 50,000 prisoners. In NY State, the majority of prisons are in rural areas that are predominantly white and economically depressed, which would have enjoyed an exploitation of timber resources, of tourism, etc. The solution of this depression is to build prisons in these regions in order to employ people and bring taxable income. A whole host of other support industries come along with the prison… So we have a major growth industry of Black flesh for white rural employment.” This is not exclusive to NY State & is established all throughout this colony.

In order for the state to keep up its tradition of unpaid Black labor carrying every pillar of this colony, they need prisons & prisoners. The way that the state perpetuates a never ending cycle of unpaid black labor within prisons is by manufacturing conditions to imprison people; those people being mostly Black & Brown people of this colony. Our poverty is being manufactured by the state via inadequate education for our youth, lack of jobs &/or our ability to work these jobs in our communities, police occupation & repression perpetually growing, funding being stripped from programs & infrastructure benefitting us, inadequate housing enabled by greedy landlords, liquor stores & smoke shops on every street leaving us barely functioning, inaccessible grocery stores, military grade weapon filled freight trains breaking down in our neighborhoods, the examples are endless and all work together to continue feeding the prison system with Black bodies. “Force and violence must be seen for what they are and placed in a relevant political context: Instruments of political power, instruments of control”, said by Dhoruba Bin Wahad.

These strategic hits on the Black & Brown community by the state are acts of war that are committed with the amerikan people’s tax dollars. The police, being an arm of the state, are strategic in their hits as well. With us being at war in mind, we need to analyze police violence & their tactics through a militant lens, in order to react to conflict & defend ourselves.

Last year in 2024, the 11th District Tactical Unit (aka: The “Jump Out Boys”) of the pig force conducted at least 29 unjustified searches on residents. One of them resulting in the murder of Dexter Reed, a Black man exercising his 2nd amendment right to bare arms, while driving within the confines of the law. Their excuse for a tactical unit conducting a “traffic stop” was for a seatbelt. However, from the street surveillance camera they had installed, you can clearly see this unit swerving around another car to cut off Reeds tinted vehicle. Almost simultaneously, all officers dressed in plain clothes perform a “jump-out” maneuver with their guns drawn, attempting to open Reeds vehicle. Shots go off and the pigs retreat to take cover behind trees & their squad car, still laying rounds into Reed’s vehicle. Seconds go by and they simultaneously advance on Reeds vehicle to then lay 96 rounds total into his vehicle, killing him. This hit by the pig force only lasted 41 seconds long. Dexter Reed’s rights as a human, being the right to self-defense, the right to not be searched without probable cause or warrants, the right to bear arms & the right to exist as a Black man, were violated by the states actors.

24 hours before Dexter Reed’s murder, the same 11th District Tactical Unit performs another “jump-out” maneuver in another West Side neighborhood with predominantly Black & Brown residents, shooting & killing a dog after residents begged them not to hop out on them so they can put the dog in the yard.

“I told y’all I was gonna put the fuckin’ dog in the yard. What the fuck?” yells one man.

“Y’all jump out on us every day. I was gonna put the dog in the yard. Nobody’s running or nothing.”

“Every day we just stand there. We get stopped and frisked and everything,” one man shouts.

“We don’t got no guns or nothin’. I just said, I’m puttin’ the dog in the yard.”

The pig force perform the “jump-out” maneuver daily, pressuring & intimidating the community nonstop. These stops are predatory towards the Black community & are premeditated. Black people are constantly harassed for standing on their property & are unable to defend themselves in fear they will be murdered instead of just their rights being violated. These pigs never announce themselves as police, arriving again in an unmarked car & plain clothes with guns immediately drawn. These tactics are within guidelines of the police department because they are allowed to do it continuously even though it is unconstitutional. Dhoruba Bin Wahad has stated, “when we rethink the concept of “self-defense” against racist aggression we are also reevaluating the ethical grounds for the use of force in a particular social context. Any concept of “legal” force is determined by the prevailing ideas of those who govern the use of violence.” The “jump-out” maneuver is an extra-legal war tactic aimed at the Black community & needs to be met with equal force. We cannot rely on the state to dismantle systems & processes that they depend on to make money. They need our communities to be open air prisons to continue in our subjugation.
